Lowry’s insurance career began in 1981 at Aetna Property & Casualty. Two years later, he joined Baldwin & Sons. In 1991, Lowry and Chuck Davis merged their firms to found DavisBaldwin Insurance and Risk Management. Over a nine year period, DavisBaldwin grew into the largest privately owned Insurance and Risk Management firm in Florida. It was nationally ranked as one of the top 30 largest privately held brokerage firms before its sale to Wachovia Bank in November 2000.
While at DavisBaldwin, Lowry co-founded Advantec, a national Professional Employer Organization (PEO). Advantec provided outsourced payroll, human resources, and employee benefits services to small and medium sized employers within the confines of a co-employment contract. Advantec represented over 900 employers and 24,000 employees before its sale to Oasis in 2010.
In February of 2006, Lowry and his partners, Elizabeth Krystyn and Laura Sherman, formed what is today, Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners (BKS). BKS is a highly customized boutique Insurance and Risk Management Brokerage. In 2012, Lowry and his partners formed Baldwin Risk Partners to serve as a holding company for further investment into the Insurance Brokerage space.
Lowry is recognized within the Florida Insurance Brokerage industry as a leading advisor of Insurance and Risk Management solutions to large, multi geographic employers. He has served on the Board of Directors of Hartline, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, Academy Prep of Tampa and the University of Tampa’s Fellows Forum.
Lowry Baldwin is a fourth generation Tampa native with deep roots in the Tampa Bay community. A graduate of Jesuit High School, heattended Wake Forest University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. While attending Wake Forest, Lowry met his wife Jennifer, of 28+ years. They have three grown sons to whom they have passed on their entrepreneurial spirit and their shared passion for the outdoors, adventure, travel and reading.
Elizabeth Krystyn is a Founding Partner of BKS-Partners and Baldwin Risk Partners, LLC. She currently serves as the Interim Managing Director of the Employee Benefits Group for BKS-Partners. Elizabeth also oversees the BRP Human Resources team and is spearheading the formalization of their Learning & Development Practice. Prior to starting BKS-Partners with Lowry and Laura, Elizabeth was Senior Vice President of Wachovia Insurance Services and led both their Benefits Administration operations and Bank Sales Integration. Elizabeth started her career with DavisBaldwin Insurance and Risk Management in 1988, prior to Wachovia’s 2000 acquisition of DavisBaldwin. Elizabeth was responsible for leading both sales and service for the Employee Benefits Group. During her twelve years in this role, revenues grew more than twelve-fold.
Elizabeth is currently on the Judicial Commission of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay and is Personnel Chairperson of First Presbyterian Church of Tampa. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tampa and has prior board experience from Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park, having served as both a Trustee and as Secretary and Treasurer of their Endowment Foundation. Elizabeth has previously been honored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal 40 Under 40 and Women in Business and by Employee Benefits Adviser’ Most Influential Women in Benefits Advising. She has her Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania and has taught a number of CEBS courses. Elizabeth has a finance degree from the University of South Florida. She and her husband, Enrique Fueyo, have two sons and an exchange student/daughter from Poland who has never left. They reside in Tampa.
Laura Sherman has over twenty years experience solving the risk management needs of the affluent and collections for both private collectors and museums. Prior to starting Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners, she served as a Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Private Risk Management Group for Wachovia Insurance Services. Laura also worked with Chubb where she was the Assistant Worldwide Marketing Manager for the personal insurance division and was responsible for the creation of the Ferrari Insurance Program, marketing collateral, national public relations and traveled with the PBS television show, Antiques Roadshow. Laura is an instructor with the National Alliance for the Certified Private Risk Management (CPRM) designation. She recently earned the 2016 Power Broker award from Risk and Insurance.
Laura is involved in various charitable endeavors in the community, including the board of directors for Meals on Wheels and Children’s Dream Fund. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from DePauw University and has a Certified Advisor of Personal Insurance from the Wharton School. Laura proudly hails from Ohio. She and her husband, Alden, have two sons and reside in Clearwater.
Trevor is the Chief Executive Officer of Baldwin Risk Partners. Trevor joined the Firm in 2009 as a Commercial Risk Advisor working primarily with healthcare and private equity clients, over time he led the firm’s Commercial Risk Management Group as Managing Director, followed by being BRP’s President & CEO.
Trevor has a background investing in and working with companies to shape their goals and success. Before joining Baldwin Risk Partners, Trevor worked at the private equity firm HealthEdge Investment Partners, LLC. While at HealthEdge, Trevor divided his time between working with portfolio companies on operational improvements and assisting in the execution of new transactions.
Trevor graduated from Florida State University with a BA in Risk Management & Insurance. He received his FAA Pilot’s license and USCG Captain’s license. Trevor is an avid outdoors enthusiast, enjoys spending time with friends and family, and resides in Tampa.

Kris Wiebeck joined Baldwin Risk Partners (BRP) in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer. Kris began his career in the Advisory Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was most recently Senior Vice President at MMA Capital Management (NASDAQ: MMAC) responsible for United States Investments.
Kris has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Florida. While at Florida, Kris was a four-time NCAA All-American on the men’s swimming team, completed the Honors Program, and was a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Kris volunteers with Tampa Jesuit and Academy swim teams and is a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. He and his wife, Melissa, have two children and reside in Tampa.
Dan began his career at Cintas Corporation in 2003 and after 10 years in various operations and sales leadership roles, was head of sales for the Document Management division. In May 2014, when Cintas Document Management and Shred-it entered into a joint venture, Dan was appointed as Executive Vice President of Sales, running Sales and Sales Operations for the organization. In October 2015, Shred-it was acquired by Stericycle where Dan was named Senior Vice President of Sales, running Sales for all of Stericycle’s Compliance Service Businesses in North America. Dan’s team at Stericycle was responsible for driving $2.5 billion in annual revenue.
John Valentine joined Baldwin Risk Partners in 2018 as Chief Partnership Officer. John has more than 17 years of experience closing merger and acquisition, equity and debt transactions for public, private and sponsor-owned clients across a number of industry sectors.
Most recently John led the Investment Banking practice in the Mid-Atlantic region at Wells Fargo Securities. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Securities, John was a vice president at Hyde Park Capital Partners, LLC and Athena Capital Partners. John began his career at Keefe, Bruyette and Woods, Inc., where he assisted in the structuring and marketing of sell-side M&A engagements, trust preferred and mezzanine capital transactions for financial services companies.
As Chief Partnership Officer, John is responsible for Partnership execution and due diligence activities in collaboration with BRP’s respective Division and Business Function leadership teams. In addition, John collaborates with BRP’s leadership team to drive successful integration of new partner firms.
John earned his B.S. in Business Administration, with special attainments in commerce, from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where he was a four-year varsity wrestler. John is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. John lives in Charlotte with his wife and three daughters.
Brad Hale joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) in May of 2019. As CAO, he is responsible for leading the accounting department through the business’s growth trajectory with accurate and informative financial reporting while being responsive to the demands of integration and partner support.
Prior to joining BRP, Brad served as Managing Director and Shareholder at CBIZ MHM, LLC, where he led the Accounting Advisory group on projects primarily focused on the application of technical accounting. In addition, Brad signed both private company and public company audit reports and served as a subject matter expert within the firm’s national office for a variety of complex GAAP areas. Before joining CBIZ, Brad was the Director of Accounting & Risk Management at Bloomin’ Brands, Inc,. after having grown up in the Big 4 with Deloitte, LLP.
Brad has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from Wake Forest University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida. He serves as the Treasurer of Voice for Children and volunteers on various committees at Hyde Park United Methodist Church and St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School. Brad and his wife, Amy, have two children and reside in Tampa.
Chris Stephens joined Baldwin Risk Partners (BRP) as General Counsel in 2019. As General Counsel, Chris is responsible for BRP’s legal matters.
Most recently, Chris served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Savills North America. Prior to joining Savills, Chris was a shareholder with Hill Ward Henderson where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings and compliance, venture capital transactions and corporate governance matters. His legal career began with Sullivan & Cromwell.
Chris has a Bachelor of Science from The University of Florida and earned his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
Joe joined Baldwin Risk Partners in January of 2017. He has over 30-years of experience successfully growing multi-geographic service-oriented businesses supported by cultures of collaboration and innovation. As President of the MainStreet Group at Baldwin Risk Partners, Joe is responsible for establishing the organizations strategic and operational performance, developing and facilitating the execution of business integration plans, sharing of operational best practices among the BRP Family of Companies and identifying partnership opportunities.
Prior to joining BRP, Joe served as an Operating Partner with Concentric Equity Partners where he was also the Chief Executive Officer for Environment Pest Services, LLC. There he successfully grew the business ten-fold through organic sales and acquisitions. He has also served as the CEO and President of Tire Centers Divisions for Michelin North America and President of Sears Automotive Group.
Joe is committed to delivering operational excellence, colleague engagement, growing shareholder value and has a deep passion for delivering raving fan client experience. Joe graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, majoring in Marketing. He has also completed the ServiceMaster MBA program. Joe is the Chairman of the Board for Lighthouse Academies which is a nonprofit network of charter schools dedicated to ensuring a college education for students who would otherwise face a future with limited opportunity. Joe and his wife Pam reside in Tampa, Florida.
Kelly Nash serves as Managing Director of Private Risk Management Group at Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners. Kelly joined BKS-Partners with nearly 15 years of experience in the high-net-worth insurance industry and family offices. Most recently, Kelly served as Vice President, West Zone Sales Leader at Marsh Private Client Services. There she was responsible for leading the business development team for the western United States based in Seattle. Prior to that role, Kelly served as the Central Zone Sales Leader at Marsh Private Client Services out of Chicago.
Kelly was recognized as one of six individuals as a 2017 Private Client Power Broker by Risk and Insurance, and has earned both the Certified Advisor of Personal Insurance (CAPI) designation through Chubb and Wharton, and the Certified Personal Risk and Insurance Advisor designation through St. John’s University and the Private Risk Management Association. Kelly serves on the national advisory council for Chubb Group of Insurance Companies and often speaks at conferences and industry events, most recently at the national Private Risk Management Association conference.
Kelly earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Oregon State University. She lives in the Tampa Bay area with her husband and two young children.
Jeff Hughes serves as Managing Director of Employee Benefits Group at Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners. Prior to joining BKS-Partners, Jeff served as Regional Director (US Southeast) of Sales for Stericycle, Inc. Jeff brings over 14 years of experience developing and leading successful teams in sales, operations and national accounts capacities across several business lines. At his previous employer, Jeff was instrumental in ensuring the successful integration and transition of two large corporate M&A transactions. His greatest accomplishment has been witnessing and celebrating the wins and success stories of the many colleagues that he has had the opportunity to develop and inspire over the years.
Jeff received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. He currently resides in Tampa, FL with his wife and daughter.
Jim Roche, Managing Partner for Millennial Specialty Insurance (MSI), joined Baldwin Risk Partners in 2019. A graduate of Vanderbilt University (Computer Science / Electrical Engineering), Jim spent 5 years in management consulting, rapidly reaching the titled staff position of Principal within his firm. Jim received his MBA from the University of Virginia, before joining Progressive Insurance as a product manager ($150M P&L responsibility).
Through various mergers & acquisitions, Jim has worked for Balboa Insurance Company, Bank of America, and QBE Insurance in various roles of growing responsibility. These have included strategy, marketing, product development & IT, with significant experience in technology solutions and new product introduction. Jim has owned auto, renters & homeowners P&Ls and managed multiple policy administration and billing system implementations. Jim is focused on technology, finance, and product management.
Brian Schultz is one of the founders of Millennial Specialty Insurance, a Baldwin partner company. He has previously worked for Balboa Insurance Company, Cypress Insurance Group, and QBE Insurance. His roles have been in distribution and operations with extensive experience in marketing, product development, and risk management. He has managed property portfolios nationally and catastrophe prone portfolios in Florida and Texas. He was a principle architect of the Balboa Insurance renters program and led the QBE renters insurance program from its inception. Brian focuses on sales, program development, accounting, and partner/carrier relationships for Millennial Specialty Insurance (MSI).
Brian makes his home in St Augustine, FL with his wife Michelle and two kids Trevor (17) and Taylor (15). He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and is recently retired from the Navy after 24 years of service, and enjoys boating and outdoor recreation in his free time.
Ellen Morgan joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Human Resources Director in 2015. Ellen was most recently with Chubb Insurance as the Human Resources Manager for a five-state regional area based out of Tampa. Prior to Chubb, Ellen was in Human Resources with ACE-USA in Tampa and Frito-Lay, Inc. in Dallas, TX. Ellen brings 25-years of experience in Talent Management, Compensation, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement and Training & Development.
Ellen volunteers for the American Red Cross and the Francis House. She received her BA in Psychology and her MS in Labor & Industrial Relations from West Virginia University. She received her SPHR Certification in 2002. Ellen and her husband Greg have four children and reside in Tampa.
Karen Madden joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Human Resources Director in July 2017. She has a primary focus on our MainStreet division. Karen was most recently with Environmental Pest Services, LLC (EPS) as the VP of Human Resources with a geographic territory in Florida, Atlanta and North Carolina based out of Tampa. Prior to EPS, Karen was the Human Resources Director for 14 years at Comcast Corp in the West Florida market, based in Sarasota, FL. Karen has over 20-years of progressive HR experience working for service-related organization, such as Arthur Andersen and Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System.
Karen is an executive board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota County and is the chairperson for BGCS HR sub-committee. Karen received her BS in Management from Southeastern Massachusetts University and received her PHR certification in 2003. Karen and her husband Tom have four children and reside in Sarasota.
Corbyn Galloway joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Director of Accounting in 2019. As Director of Accounting, Corbyn is responsible for all technical accounting aspects and interpretations of complex accounting. She serves as the lead on special accounting projects and is also responsible for leading various process improvements in the accounting function.
Corbyn began her career in the Assurance practice of CBIZ & MHM Tampa Bay, where she planned and executed financial statement audits of privately-held and publicly-traded companies. While at CBIZ, Corbyn served as a technical leader focusing specifically on transaction-related accounting, business combinations and revenue recognition.
Corbyn graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She remains an active alumni as a business corporate mentor in the USF Muma College of Business. Corbyn is also a Certified Public Accountant. She enjoys traveling and cheering on the Bulls at USF football games.
David joined Baldwin Risk Partners in late 2015 as Controller. With more than 10 years of experience in similar fast-growing companies, David elevates the accounting and financial practices at BRP. As controller, David is responsible for strategic planning, overseeing all financial reporting and managing the accounting team.
Prior to joining BRP, David served as Manager of Accounting for Ironman World Triathalon Corporation, there he lead and managed all aspects of the revenue to receivable function and helped to ensure efficient operation across the organization.David lives in Palm Harbor with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys cooking, traveling, watching college basketball (Go Huskies!) and exploring Florida’s State Parks, especially the Pinellas Trail.
Rachel Carr joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Marketing Director in 2017. Previously, she worked for ten years at Cigna in progressive sales communications roles with a focus on enabling customer centricity and knowledge management as the company evolved to improve wellness and embrace the ACA. Before entering the healthcare industry, Rachel held positions at ESPN, NBC Rochester newsroom and the Advertising Club of New York. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Alfred University and studied international advertising at Bond University in Queensland. Rachel is passionate about innovation and simplifying the landscape so clients can achieve peace of mind through their risk management investments.
Rachel volunteers for the Junior Achievement program, teaching children financial literacy and does fundraising for ALS TDI in memory of her father-in-law. She and her husband Geoff enjoy exploring their new home of Florida, boating and loving on their two kids – Ryan and Sydney.
Kent Lightner joined Baldwin Risk Partners in 2018 as part of the addition of Montoya & Associates in Jacksonville, Florida, where he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Currently the Director of Integrations, Kent coordinates and manages the successful onboarding of new partner firms into the BRP family. He also manages BRP’s facilities across all business entities.
With over 25 years of experience in the construction, manufacturing, technology and financial services industries, Kent has led a wide variety of teams and organizations. Notable examples include: starting and building a successful global technology company, managing a $450 million government contract and leading an organization of over 1100 people working in eight different locations across three states.
Kent grew up in Costa Rica and is fluent in Spanish. He has lived and worked internationally for over 21 years in Latin America, Europe and Asia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Wheaton College, a master’s in engineering management from the University of Missouri Science and Technology and a master’s in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Six Sigma Black Belt.
Kent is an Engineer Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He and his wife have three children and live in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jo Cooey joined Baldwin Risk Partners as Information Technology Director in 2016. Prior to joining BRP, she served as Senior Vice President of Operations & Data Analysis for GeniusCentral Systems, Inc. As Director of IT, Jo is responsible for the overall strategic direction of technology solutions. She ensures the security of systems, data and assets, and drives client-facing innovation projects. Jo brings nearly 15 years of experience in all facets of IT.
Jo received her BS in Internet Systems & Software Technology from Bellevue University in Nebraska. She also received an MBA in Business Analytics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. She holds a Microsoft Certified Professional certification in the .NET framework and is ITIL Foundations Certified.
She has been an active volunteer with Hands on Suncoast since 2007, serving a multitude of non-profit organizations across the Tampa Bay area. Jo and her husband David have three kids, three cats and two grand-dogs.
